I believe that it’s possible. I believe that we were meant to do great things on this earth. I believe we are here and that there is purpose. Yes, in the here and now. I believe that we have the power to affect change. We were meant to be greater.

I think that we can get this all mixed up because in society we have definitions of greatness and success that are counter to one of a great purpose. Honestly, I have friends that home school their children. They spend hours every day teaching not only curriculum, but also character. They bring the word family back to its original design. That is greatness. I also have friends that are going after visions. Visions to bring ways of helping people to the world. Ways to make money, yet give generously. That is also greatness. I also have friends who work at jobs and share Jesus with their co-workers. They look to excel in their positions by the quality of their work and are not concerned with beating people to get ahead. That’s greatness. I admire them all.

I often hear debates about money. I have seen heard people say that we are not supposed to go after making a lot of money because it doesn’t glorify God. Then I’ve heard the counter argument that we should be looking to prosper as much as possible and give to the poor. To the widows and orphans. So who’s right? Honestly, I think they both are. It’s going with what we are called to do. I admire people that give up everything and spend their lives doing mission work. Or give up high positions to go to a greater calling from God. I also admire those people that ethically make a lot of money and give most of it away to support those that are hurting. That keep God at the center of their business and don’t chase after money as an idol. Dani Johnson has a great saying, she says “prosper where you are planted.” I agree.

When I was young I was terrified to take risks. I was so afraid of failure that I only did things I felt confident about. I was driven, yet it was for all the wrong reasons. I wanted success in the most worldly of ways. Now as an entrepreneur, I find that the more I put my hope in God and the more I understand that I have eternal hope in heaven, the more inclined I am to take risks and live in the now. The less attached I am to the outcome the greater the possibilities become. The more I understand that my role is to prepare for what God has already done (because He can) and not to try and make it all happen, the wider the vision and the more enjoyable the journey.

Yes, it’s possible. It really is. There is beauty in this life and there is hope.
