Sandi’s journey from severe abuse led her to a life filled with promiscuity and alcohol and drug abuse. Later, this culminated in a three-and-a-half-year meth addiction. Though God plucked Sandi from the darkness of the world and brought her into His kingdom in a miraculous way, her journey to freedom had only just begun. This book is not another book about abuse. This is a book about the power of God in the darkest of places. It is a book that speaks to the victory of a great God to bring joy and restoration from the turbulent pain of horrific trauma. This restoration includes loving the same parents who either denied that the abuse happened or inflicted terrible pain on the child Sandi.

Most importantly, this manuscript illustrates the significance of a willingness to be uncomfortable. Yes, forgiveness and healing are important. However, what must come first is a willingness to live in discomfort. Without that willingness, we will choose bondage over risk, which means we will stay safe instead of feeling the kind of pain we must feel to forgive and heal. We are bombarded with media and distractions of every kind. We are taught that we must avoid pain at all costs. Yet, in doing so, we often choose comfort over the very vivacious life that God has in store for us.
